Shakesville: War in Defense of Christmas: Day Five

Everyone needs BAT GIRL during Christmas.

Why do I get the impression Petulant would make a FIERCE drag queen? ;-)
  • Esme · 1 year ago
Nope, that's cat woman. You can tell because of the purple. Bat girl wears the same colors as batman. Only with boobs instead of bulging pecs
  • Andrea · 1 year ago
Okay, two people beat me to it, but... that's not Bat Girl! She's purple with a green cape. Definitely Catwoman, in one of my favorite vintage styles, I might add.
  • Petulant · 1 year ago
    But Batgirl wore purple.
  • Petulant · 1 year ago
Ok... you kittens win! I will just call her Bat Girl in private. LOL!

Update: I was just going by my limited knowledge of the 60s show, not the comics. Bad me. : ) I was more a Richie Rich comic fan or the Stars Wars Comic. OOOOO... The Star Wars Comics, especially the over-sized ones.

Petulant, another thing to add to stock to make it ridiculously tasty and fragrant: allspice berries along with the peppercorns. (I made my turkey stock yesterday, hee!)

I'm glad you like my minimal decorating this year. Although, even when I go 'all out', it leans more towards making huge, varied amounts of cookies, cakes, bars, candies, etc. The tree, when I have one, is almost always blue spruce, live, with white mini-lights and full-sized candy canes. And popcorn garlands, if I'm feeling especially crazy. No topper, although if I found a pretty punched tin specimen, I'd use it. And for random wall decorating, the kids and I would make construction paper garlands to hang around our (at the time) 7 foot windows.

Okay, I'll hush up now, I'm only managing to depress myself. :)

The still make Star Wars comics. The boy collects them.

Me? I'm a sucker for Birds of Prey, which is Black Canary, Oracle (Barbara Gordon, originally Batgirl, who does computer tech stuff since being paralyzed by the joker), and Huntress fighting the bad guys, and quite often ticking off Batman.

I love love love that Catwoman ornament!

And the veggie stock sounds divine! I'll have to remember to save my veggie scraps and make some.

I'm not a big comics person myself, I just have a somewhat over-complete knowledge of Catwoman's evolution. (I found this to be important information as I myself am practically feline). I have a comic-bookish friend who keeps mentioning Birds of Prey to me... I keep meaning to get it, but I'm still stuck in the enjoyable-but-undeniably-sticky swampland that is The Wheel of Time series.

Andrea, if you do read Birds of Prey, do NOT, I repeat NOT, start at the beginning. Start with volume three, when Gail Simone (currently writer of Wonder Woman) started writing it. It was absolute crap before she picked it up.

Feel free to intrude any time!

    Our tree goes up tonight!

Love it all. And now I am in search of good comic book ornaments for Mr. Counsel. Somehow, it never occurred to me before your post...

Oh. My. God. That Cthuhlu is the answer to all my secret atheist prayers.
  • Petulant · 1 year ago
That Cthuhlu is the answer to EVERYONE'S "prayers."
  • BlueJean · 1 year ago
Wow. Shrub's portrait actually makes him look like a serious, intelligent person instead of the smirking chimp that we all know he is. I raise a toast to the artist's skill.

Please Petulant, for the love of MAUDE, PLEASE don't forget the SPARKLY PINE CONES!

I would be more than moderately disappointed.
  • Falyne · 1 year ago
I wish to reiterate how much this series rocks, my good sir. ^_^

That Cthuhlu is the answer to EVERYONE'S "prayers."

    Yes, it is.

I keep trying to send Petulant the picture of my sparkly turquoise and silver Bumble and Elphaba mantel set-up (I finally found those stupid little tassels), but freaking Yahoo mail keeps eating the pictures. I'll have to try again from home tonight.

Also, your Lady Macbethesque response to the glitter is quite amusing.

Furthermore, I also enjoy Birds of Prey throughly. I also enjoy Wheel of Time, although I'll need to reread them, probably, before the last book comes out. According to the guy who inheireted that task's webpage, he's about 87% done with the first draft. Yikes.
