I was waaaay too old for it, per the supposed target audience, and I don't even remember how I found it, but it's bloody brilliant.

Re: Two-Minute Nostalgia Sublime

Thanks, maurinsky! Or am I cracked?

I watched this show every once in a while. I still want to know how Pete got that tattoo.

Re: Two-Minute Nostalgia Sublime

*happy sigh* One of my all-time favorite shows.

Re: Two-Minute Nostalgia Sublime

I had such a crush on the girl who played Ellen. And the girl who played Winnie on the Wonder Years. And the brunette on Hey Dude. I miss those shows. Looking back, I probably should have realized I was queer about 5 years before I actually did.

Kids today just don't get good shows on Nickelodeon and Disney and such. I remember when Disney was a pay channel, and it had DINOSAURS! Dagnabbit.

Re: Two-Minute Nostalgia Sublime

Garnet, you are not misremembering, Michael Stipe did guest star. You can add the DVDs to your Netflix queue, which is how I can confirm your memory.

Re: Two-Minute Nostalgia Sublime

Oh man, I loved Pete & Pete as a kid, going all the way back to the original shorts they would show during commercial breaks on Nickelodeon. I miss having shows like this around.

Didn't Michael Stipe guest-star at one point too? Or am I misremembering?

Re: Two-Minute Nostalgia Sublime

Now THAT's a show that tickled MY funnybone!

Re: Two-Minute Nostalgia Sublime

Oh wow, I haven't seen pete and pete in forevah! A few years back when I was fresh out of college one of the digital cable stations I got in my old apartment used to play reruns on a regular basis. I was amazed at how well the show actually held up. My usual experience watching shows I used to love as a kid is profound disapointment. With Pete & Pete there are signifigant aspects of the show that I can appreciate more as an adult. For example, Iggy Pop's guest turn as Little Pete's friend's embarassing dad. That's way funnier now.

Re: Two-Minute Nostalgia Sublime

Did one of them grow up to be Marilyn Manson?
