Did one of them grow up to be Marilyn Manson? No wait, that was Paul from the Wonder Years. Wacky Canadians!

Brills! I love this show. Do they even have such cool shows for kids now? That show had such a randomly weird cast of characters, i just can't imagine it going over well today. And remember when Iggy Pop was in it as Nona's dad!

I used to love this show when I was a kid. A few years back when I was fresh out of college one of the digital cable stations I got in my old apartment used to play reruns on a regular basis. I was amazed at how well the show actually held up. My usual experience watching shows I used to love as a kid is profound disapointment. With Pete & Pete there are signifigant aspects of the show that I can appreciate more as an adult. For example, Iggy Pop's guest turn as Little Pete's friend's embarassing dad. That's way funnier now.

Mom (with her plate) running happily through the field still cracks me up to this day. I love Artie, The World's Strongest Man, and what was the Mr. Softee-esque ice cream guy's name? I loved him too.

Oh man, I loved Pete & Pete as a kid, going all the way back to the original shorts they would show during commercial breaks on Nickelodeon. I miss having shows like this around.

Didn't Michael Stipe guest-star at one point too? Or am I misremembering?
  • maurinsky · 1 year ago
Garnet, you are not misremembering, Michael Stipe did guest star. You can add the DVDs to your Netflix queue, which is how I can confirm your memory.

I had such a crush on the girl who played Ellen. And the girl who played Winnie on the Wonder Years. And the brunette on Hey Dude. I miss those shows. Looking back, I probably should have realized I was queer about 5 years before I actually did.

Kids today just don't get good shows on Nickelodeon and Disney and such. I remember when Disney was a pay channel, and it had DINOSAURS! Dagnabbit.

*happy sigh* One of my all-time favorite shows.

I can remember when The Adventures of Pete and Pete was like a 30 second to one minute long serial that would occasionally air on Nick. Or am I cracked?

I watched this show every once in a while. I still want to know how Pete got that tattoo.

This show rocked. "...starring Pete, Pete's brother Pete, and me...Ellen."

    OMG BEST SHOW EVAR!

I seriously loved this show, and I love that I can watch it now as an adult and still crack the fuck up at it. I almost want to have kids so I can show it to them, but they'd undoubtedly be perplexed at why their Mom only shows them weird 90's shows with terrible video quality. The other day "Love Rollercoaster" came on the radio and I was reminded of the time big Pete got Artie and the school band to play it to snap Ellen out of her "i" funk. Good times.

Thanks, maurinsky! I've been meaning to pick up the DVDs since they came out but keep forgetting.

Great show. I was waaaay too old for it, per the supposed target audience, and I don't even remember how I found it, but it's bloody brilliant.
